[T3] T1 engine
<x-flowed>Recently I read some discussion re the use of a type 1 engine in a type
3 car.
I am in the midst of doing just that as I had a newly rebuilt T1 block.
I'm using the type 3 tin.
Reforming the type 1 dip stick and adding the "cool tins" are about the
only changes I have encountered.
I am, however, puzzled by another thing. The T3 fan/pully fit the crank
just fine but when I went to time the engine it seemed to be 180 degrees
out. I used a probe into the #1 cylinder to find TDC on the compression
stroke and the timing marks on the fan/pully were on the bottom (180 off)!
I have the distributor arranged so that it should time to #1 at that
point and I added a white paint mark on the fan/pully for future timing
but have I done something wrong or is this normal for this situation?
The engine is still on the bench so I can start over if given good guidance.
What's the word from the Guru's?
