This is a sign that the plastic cap has been warm and lost it's ability to hold. Some people say that you can heat them and reshape them to get them to hold. I have always just put a couple small screws at the outer edge and been done with it. There should be a spring and a large washer under it. > > On the upside, I finished the first complete tune-up > on the car since I reinstalled the engine and it seems > MUCH better now. I think it is 10mm, so 3/8" gas line should work. If not, use a hose clamp on that end. It will be a PITA the first time but you will have no worries about it coming off. Backfires can blow it off. -- Russ Wolfe '66 FB MT '71 FB AT '65 Bug (not running) russw@classicvw.org http://www.classicvw.org ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
