I think Greg is right about amber vs. clear. A "driving light" will be more of a spot, like an extra set of high beams (not to be used with oncoming traffic). The fog lens has a lot of vertical ribs to disperse the light directly in front of you. The GE fog lens pattern has a distinct line that focuses the light below about 3/4. The way I set these up was so that the bright portion below the line is stays horizontal and with the road (and out of traffic's eyes). I use these for night driving in the rainy winter season here, not just fog.
