If it's quiet, you can usually hear the pump whirr from the driver's seat.

Gas comes out thru a filter screen in the bottom of the tank, thru a
rectangular filter, and into the pump.

Output from the pump goes thru a circular "damper" and then to the pipe on the
left side of the tunnel.

Returned fuel comes forward on the right side of the tunnel and returns to the
tank. On the way, that line is joined in a Y by an overpressure relief line
from the pump.

It sounds like your pump is not running. You should check the voltage on the
output side of the fuel pump relay under the dash. This actually clicks 2 times
when you turn the key on, so it is easy to find. Check the fuse that feeds the
relay if there is no voltage at the relay output.

If the fuse and relay are good check the wires to the pump. Make sure the plug
on the pump hasn't slipped out. Verify that you have voltage at the plug.

You may want to check the filter. The way to do this is to remove the hose
feeding the pump and see if you get a healthy pencil sized stream of gas out of
it. If not, either the filter screen in the tank, or the filter in the line is
clogged. If either of these is clogged, then your rubber overflow hose, behind
the gas tank fill pipe is probably cracked and has let dirt and water into the
tank. This will have to be fixed, but that part is NLA. You'll have to rig
something. It's VERY important that this be sealed, so you MUST fix it.

If water and dirt have gotten into the pump, then the motor contacts may not be
making contact. Use a clip lead to jumper across the fuel pump relay to
energize the pump full time. Then go under the front end and gently tap on the
pump motor body from various directions until it starts to run.
