Re: [T3] new listee and new car

<x-flowed>I just thought I'd mention that stock dual carb/AT cars - which were not sold inthe US, had a special balance pipe with an extra port for the vacuum modulator. They also had a modified carb linkage pivot which incorporated a kickdown switch. the actual switch was the same part as on the FI, which is surprisingly logical for VW.

You can see pictures of all this stuff at my site, www.type34.info under "Pictures of my car", and then "Engine". The only thing that is missing from mine is the kickdown switch wiring, which I have not yet connected up.

The cars also originally had special distributors ("S" or "P"), which I don't have. Mine seems to manage OK with the "T" distributor that I fitted.

So, I borrowed a two carb setup from a friend. 2 weber 34's
with all the linkage and intake pipes. runs pretty good for

off the jackstands and try the automatic tranny to see if it
works.

These are much better carbs, but they would still be some work to get jetted right.

Remember this was my original concern, the auto tranny.
goes real good in reverse. hardly moves in 1, 2, or 3. I
realize it needs a vacuum to operate and cobbled in a line
from the bottom of the 34's.

You need a vacuum connection to the balance pipe, but this may be what you have done (it needs to come from completely under the throttle plate.

Have you checked the ATF level? It must be checked with the engine running. It could just be low.
