The T4 pilot bearing is >IN the crank right?? Crap, I knew I'd forgotten to write about that part. You've gotta put the bearing in the flywheel so the tranny input shaft will reach it. Here's the routine: Get a new pilot bearing. Take the bearing and the flywheel to a machinist, and have the center of the machined so the bearing fits. Put the bearing in the flywheel, flush with the surface on the clutch side. Then take the bearing *out* of the crank (this is important, you need some of the room it takes!), put the flywheel on and you're done. With that part of the conversion anyway. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
