Here's how it's done:

1) Take a 12 point, 12mm socket.

2) Whack it onto the screw till it's really jammed down hard. Mine 
covered the screw head almost entirely.

3) Twist it off. Mine came off at the third attempt. Each time I jammed 
the socket down a little further.

4) Go buy a new socket and new screw. I doubt if I'll be able to get the 
screw out of the socket!
