Interesting thread... This "safety bead" description prompted me to look in my garage at two wheels I have. One set is from an early ('63, I think) Notchback. The other set is a 4.5jx15 four lug wheel (era unknown). I do not see the difference between the two on the inside, where the "safety bead" would be, according to the descriptions on this thread. Am I missing something?? I am sure the rim part of the wheels are identical. Anyone have any pics of the "safety bead"? I'd like to see an example. -- Phillip Bradfield Member: southern oregon vw club: http://www.sovw.com rose city volksters: http://www.rosecityvolksters.com ddb: http://www.theddb.com 1969 Variant - Savanna beige, Type 4 2.1l (soon), speedster soon to have a bus dash 1968 Variant - Granada red, 1835 with dual 40 Dellortos, with 67 euro fenders 1963 1500 - Ruby red, 1600 with dual Solex carburetors, soon to be full automatic! 19??
