My 69 fasty has the stock flasher and wiring. It works exactly as you
describe.  The dash turn indicator lights only work with the key on.

Thanks. Looks like we now have a consensus that my car is working fine in this respect. Still strikes me as a bit odd that it was supposed to work like this. . . .
