Gary, It's just a hook that hooks onto the roof's rain gutter when you have the rear hatch open... At least that's how the Squares did it. Don't know about the others, but I would imagine it's something similar. That was one of the first things I busted when I got my Type 3. Ripped it right off when I was lifting the engine cover to put the hook on the gutter. Ugh.
