I would have thought that the face would have been keyed to something inside in that case. On the one in front of me, the R is right in the middle of the red reserve range. I think I've only ever taken ONE of these apart, and that was about 33 years ago. Hmmm, I wonder if I got it back together right.... BTW, Dave, I don't know if I ever mentioned to you that I DID correct the face of my 69 speedometer which you discovered was in there BACKWARDS. It's ALMOST symmetric, but not quite. I think it became apparent when we were spending a lot of time well over 70 mph on the way back from Parma. You realized that the numbers just didn't jibe with the tic marks, but would, if the face were flipped over. It's much better now. ;-) I've worked over a LOT of speedometers, but most of them have the trip odometer which has an extra hole in the face which makes it impossible to make this kind of mistake. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
