Are you sure you don't mean the 4- spoke wheel that was used in 72-3? Okay, I found the picture in the Bentley. Must be from another car. I don't know what, but I don't think it is a type 3 of any kind. > 2) My 1969-model German VW price list shows that all VW 1600 Type 3 cars > were available with two different engines; 45 and 54 HP, and two different > trim levels, L and not-L. Here's what VW offered for type 3s in 69: Model Year 1969 8/1/68 12/31/68 7/31/69 Engine number: 1500 33KW 45BHP K 0120745 K 0131969 K 0150000 1500 30KW 41BHP (M240) M 0002445 M 0002879 M 0003544 1600 40KW 54BHP T 0574186 T 0616933 T 0690000 1600 36KW 50BHP (M240) P 0004321 P 0004677 P 0005281 1600 40KW 54BHP (M236) U 0093652 U 0154029 U 0231100 Chassis number: 319 000 001 319 108 899 319 500 000 K & M engines were single carb, P & T were dual carb, U was FI (M236). M240 was low compression. This is from the type 3 offerings, so the type 34 was probably just a subset of this. I think we're pretty sure the Type 34 never got FI. It looks like the 45BHP engine was a 1500, which was part of the lineup right up to the end in 73. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
