I have an opportunity to pick up a Type 4 engine for a pretty cheap. It is just a long block. Supposedly from a 914. Supposedly 1.8L. OK my questions... 1. Anything specially about the engine if it is from a 914, rather then a Type4 VW? Different heads/valves/cam? 2. Engine number is EC041274. IS this right for a 1.8L 914 engine? 3. It comes with a new cam and lifter. Numbers on cam are EP93 on a land between a couple of the lobes and "replaces 021 188 1110" on the bolt on cam gear. Stock cam or performance cam? 4. Is this a good candidate for a Type 4 conversion for one of my Type 3s? Also I have a set of pistons and cylinders that have this number on them. VW311.198.069F/87/JA. Are these just aftermarket slip-in 87mm P&C? I was surprised about the 311 part number. BTW, I will have all of these parts for sale at the MVVC show in Ypsilanti tomorrow. I am swapping them for a friend and of course I have first dibs on them. <G> Thanks.
