I think this is the measurement you're talking about. I don't know why that might be shortened unless it was for a stroker crank. > And to the list! So it seems to just shift by itself from R to 1st? I would check the nose cone mounting bushing and make sure that it's not coming apart, and check the shift coupling also. Sometimes these problems are external.
