Hey Phil, I put electronic ignition in my car and it has proven very very reliable. No constant adjustments to worry about and an accurate/even spark every time. A big hot coil can be installed but do not forget the external resistor if the coil requires one. This unit has survived a blue coil and a very large race coil, I now have a hot Accel coil. Connecting backwards: One thing to very careful is when installing , do not put the + (pos) wire in the - (neg)ground and - (neg) wire to + (pos) or you will have to eat the 49 to 60 plus bucks it costs. the module was damaged. Several people I know did this by mistake so follow directions. Installation is very easy . When jumping a car with a very dead battery , do not put the wires the wrong way or your module will die as if were connected backwards. Last thing you need to know is that not all are created equal, some are for some dists and others are for other distributor types. The reason for that is the room below the distributor caps, the EFI type 3 and some early bugs have very shallow caps that cannot use the slightly bigger modules used for the taller cap units, like the 009 and so fourth but the EFI units may fit the ones with taller caps so make sure you order the right one for your application. 6V versions for aircooled are also available, see links below.
