I was troubleshooting my charging troubles. I spotted two generators on a
local auction webpage and managed to win them for $51. In the meantime I ran
through Jim's tests and found that the generator was fine, so I have two
spares now, that I haven't tested yet.

I started checking the wiring just to make sure I didn't have any faults
there, and ended up with most of the dashboard disassembled ;-). I had to
fix the windscreen squirter, because the hose had a pinhole in it and was
squirting out under the bonnet when I put the pressure on. I put a new hose
in and then it started dribbling out of the back of the switch. I took that
apart and sealed the rubber valve with some silicon sealant, and when I put
it back together again that was working fine.

I also removed some gauges that I had installed in the fresh air vents - I
am going to install those in a centre console instead. Only problem is I
keep looking down, and there are no gauges there any more! ;-)

This morning I took the voltage regulator back to get another one, I put the
new one in, and all is well so far. The defective one was charging & holding
at a steady 14.4V, but kept clicking. They said that they have had one other
where the points had assembly oil on them from the Bosch factory and it was
doing the same thing.
