I should have said: "when you suck the vacuum can the whole breaker plate turns, stays turned for as long as you apply the vacuum, and then springs back when you release it." This is a far better description of the way both distributors work. The distributor illustrated in the Haynes manual has an extra spring that neither of mine have. I'll send you the numbers you asked for later, and I'll put some very detailed photos of the "R" distributor on my website. The T distributor is in the engine and so to photograph it properly would be a lot of work, but I can do it if you're interested. It's probably not much help, but this is a closeup of the "T" distributor with no cap: http://www.type34.info/album/Engine/slides/Inside%20the%20distributor.JPG Daniel Baum 1969 Type 34 automatic Email: daniel@type34.info Homepage: http://www.type34.info ------------------------------------------------------------------- List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
