Yep, it is just about that size and the noise suppression sounds about right also... > It looks to me, that that may be some type of radio suppresion device. Yes, none of my manuals show it and I don't have access to a microfiche, but it has two green and two red wires, one set soldered to the gear housing, one set running into the motor itself. > Mine definitely has a VW part number, so I'm sure it's a genuine part. Mine has a VW # on it also, my M-codes show an M123 for the French market (which I know it wasn't, my understanding it was Canadian) or an M630 for a 12 volt system, fully suppressed. It's anybodies guess.... > Is it possible that this had 2 leads and is actually 311 955 703? If so, it's a > choke for noise supression from the wiper motor. Otherwise, it's just a > capacitor for the same purpose and it doesn't appear on my microfilm. I went and checked, it's definitely VW 311 955 203. For what it's worth, I'll solder the red wire back on the most likely connection (the black/yellow lead) and just be careful when I wire it back in. Thanks to everybody for the feedback. > I believe they are the same, and yes, I can make you a set. $12 including > shipping. I appreciate the lead on the rubber pieces, Jim. I'm going to hold off on ordering them for the time being. There is a real good chance that the popouts won't fit the Notch and I won't know for sure until the car is here, the headliner and welting is in, and I can see if I'm going to keep them. I tried a test fit at the body shop the other day and there was a good amount of space top and bottom about 3/4's of the way towards the rear of the window, can't be sure of it's me, the window, or the opening itself. I do have a set of stationary windows with new rubber and the trim pieces in place in the garage, I might have to fall back on them. Keep me in mind however, maybe I'll need a set in a few months.
