The governor cover seal is a common leak and is just due to the O-ring under
there getting old and hard. It is still available from VW, and one of these
days I plan to see if I can get them from a standard O-ring source.

It's easy to replace. You just have to be careful to keep dirt out of the AT
when you take the cover off. It is not necessary to take the governor out when
you do this. In fact, from what Russ has told us, it may be better not to,
because then the key can't fall off the end of the shaft and into the final
drive.
