the bolts just tighten endlessly (according to my mechanic - still too
cold to crawl under the car here in chicago).

Thanks - I actually was searching in the meantime and ordered a new one
from John Connolly - $125 isn't too bad, and my poor old car
occasionally needs a few new parts to feel good about itself :)
