Most "default" tires have no marking on them. I had a pair of Michelin snow tires once, however, which were labeled "Michelin X-Radial M + S 84" or something like that. Just from driving with them on the back you could tell they were taller. They were good in the snow, but the height made the tail of the car wag around on the highway. The markings you see may well be the ratios.
