[T3] Bosch FI tester, etc

Sorry for the empty messages. I had a computer glitch here. I'll try to make it
up now, but I'm going by memory, so this may not be complete.

Bosch FI tester:

Yes, the connectors are all 25 pin and the testers fit all of them, but the pin
assignments vary a bit by year and version, so the early tester requires an
adapter which contains a switch which re-routes the wires, etc. The later
tester incorporates this switch into new switch positions on the front panel
rotary switches.

Coating PC boards:

Most silicones and RTVs use acetic acid as part of their curing process. While
this is a weak acid it still reacts with most metals including copper. There
are some silicones which do not use the acetic acid process, but they tend to
be expensive.

There is a whole industry devoted to protecting electronic components and
boards. Do a Google search on "conformal coatings" and see if you can find
anyone who will sell in small quantities.

Coating with hot glue would probably be worse than doing nothing, because if
the seal is not PERFECT water will get in and not get out. It would be much
like the old undercoating on our cars.

Keep in mind that the FI ECU PC boards are not coated, nor are their boxes
sealed. They have nice water drain holes in the bottom. In general, a nice box,
sealed on top with good drainage on the bottom is almost always the best
approach.
