one suggestion after painting the seats-get them coaated with something greasy/oily...i think i have heard of cosmoline, but I am not sure, otherwise i have heard that your seat will squeak like mad when you sit on it. -----Original Message----- From: DGaries808@aol.com [mailto:DGaries808@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, June 26, 2003 8:57 PM To: list@hvwc.net Cc: vintagvw@listproc.sjsu.edu; Type3@vwtype3.org Subject: [T3] 23-Window Update 06-26-2003 Getting ready to start restoring the 23-window bus, one ot the first steps was to reorganize space in my shop. Moved the '64 and '65 Types 34 together. Then moved the '49Hebm?ller and '52 Zwitter together. Then moved the '55 and ''56 bugs together. Then moved the '64 and '74 beetles together. Then the '71 Thing by itself. Parked the '71 bus out front, and placed the 23-window it the restoration stall ready for paint. Picked up the leather trim that goes around the back seat of the Heb. This week I bought the sealingwax red (L53) and beige grey (L472) paint for the 23-window. Also, took delivery of the black ragtop, two bumper brackets, a rear bumper, and the large VW insignia that goes on the front of the bus. Took the seats to be sand blasted, after which we'll paint the springs black. Then, we'll take the seats in to Bobby Higgins' Seat Cover Shop to have them covered.
