I'm assuming that when you tightened everything back up it all seemed fine again. If something had disintegrated then the drum would have pulled onto the shaft farther than normal and the drum would have rubbed badly on the brake backing plate. The only thing I can think of is that it has been loose for a long time and the splines finally wore enough to make it wobble and get your attention. If so, you may need to replace the hub to get the splines to tighten up again. I'd keep an eye on it and check the splines for wear or slop. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
