Reason not to = voltage spikes coming from the jumper can lead to damage to the electronic FI components on the jumpee. A high voltage/amperage spike when turning the ignition key and getting the juice from the other car frying something is the concern. If you are at all a concerned, here's how to avoid the spike in order of safest to riskiest, jumping from a battery in another car: other car not running. other car running at idle only. other car running, high idle. Jeff '67 Sqbk - with no worries about jumping, but owned a '80 Vanagon with same concern expressed, but jumped it a zillion times with no problems. -----Original Message----- >>but I have read that you should never >>jumpstart one...is this true? and if so why? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
