When I was fiddling with my carb on my Squareback a couple of weeks ago, I put the carb down on the board, which had a couple of drips of petrol on the bottom. When I lifted it up about 10 minutes later, there were two sticky patches in the paint or whatever it is, where the fuel had started to dissolve it.
