Padding is important, so make sure that you get something that will last. The
seat springs will actually cut thru foam, so you need to cover the springs with
something; I stitch some carpeting on top of the springs, nap side against the
springs. Better to use a thinner layer of medium or stiff foam than a thick
layer of spongy foam.

Check out all the mechanicals inside the seats before you start.

You may need some cheap cloth to lay over the foam so that the seat covers can
be slid into place. Do this work on a hot day when the covers are flexible.

The original covers use a couple different pieces of wire to hold things in
place. You can usually reuse this wire. Reuse the wire rather than use the
cheap string that some covers come with. If your old wire is shot, ask me, or
see if you can buy something locally. Don't use the string.

Type 3s don't use hog rings. You should reuse the little pointed spikes, but
MAKE SURE to tap them down so that there are no sharp ends sticking up when
you're finished.
