I am trying to determine is my points, distributor or dwell meter might be having problems. The points are set at .15" giving a dwell of 42 degrees. That seems counter-inutitive to me because a smaller physical gap should have a greater angle of dwell, right? But maybe the points are worn/bad. They are a few months old. If I push the accel. cable, the dwell drops to about 37. I know a large change indicates the distributor (shaft) might need some help/rebuilding. The dwell does not alternate or change at a consistent RPM, only when the RPM changes. The car drives fairly well. Although once it warms up, it can hestiate off idle and won't accelerate unless it is first put into neutral. Thanks. I am trying to sort out what I see in the engine compartment during a tune-up with what problems I notice while driving. --Jim ===== all new and now with genuine meat by-products... http://www.machobeagle.com __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
