. I'm getting a headache just thinking > about all the different versions there must have been. LHD and RHD, > automatics, 1973 model seats, etc. It's no wonder no one has tried to > make an aftermarket molded replacement -- too many variations. Hold on now! We are so close to getting a replacement mat for our early cars. There are two major differences between a 61-63 LHD rubber matt and one for a 64-65 "S and N" matt. The heater control placement. That's really it! Scott you already have the pattern done by using your 65 square. If people want they can use the same type cut from you all the way thru 72 when the seat mounts were changed. As for the earlier crowd a hole will have to be cut near the shifter to accommodate the heater knob. No big deal, no major engineering task! Follow the below link to Everetts own archive for the answer,"Did N modles have rubber matts?" Im shocked that I found the answer Everett. :) Any way keep up the good work Scott and thanks for the effort. You are more than welcome to comb thru my 63 with heater knob and sweet matt notch anytime for any future referance or my 62 with almost as nice simular matt. As my grandpa used to say, KISS keep it simple stupid. http://thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/64nowners/page05.jpg late jason ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
