Re: [T3] Carb Rebuild Question

<x-flowed>I recently rebuilt a 34 PICT-3 carb, and I just let it soak in gasoline for a week (because I had to order a kit for it). The gas wont ruin anything, because that is what is supposed to be in there, but it will dissolve a lot of the nasty dirt that collects on the outside.

I've got Weber ICTs on my '68 squareback right now but I want to switch to stock (for '67) Solexes. I've bought a couple pair of Solexes (32 pdsit-2 and -
3). These need to be rebuilt since they've been sitting for quite sometime. I'd like to soak them in something to at least get the grunge off the outsides and loosen up the linkage and throttle shafts. What's the best thing for this? I vaguely remember hearing that soaking in carb cleaner can actually be bad. Did I hear that right? Or would WD-40 or kerosene be better? What do you pros out there use?
