I think your idle should be around 850-950rpm. -kevin guarnotta '65 kombi '71 sqbk somerville, ma -----Original Message----- From: Kurt Nolte [mailto:rockclimbre241@yahoo.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2003 4:44 PM To: vwt3list Subject: [T3] Hrmmm, a new Predicament Well, hello again all. My beloved little square has decided to start giving me trouble again. I have recently determined that the red light (gen) actually was on for a reason other than bad connections. I got a pair of garages in clemson, the mechanics of which I trust not to lie to me (they're a good bunch of guys) to test and see what my idle speed was. The general consensus between the two was that my engine was running at about 1100 rpm's at idle. That seems really high to me; what should it be for an AT? Also, when I replaced the voltage regulator, I couldn't afford a real bosch one... could I have a lesser regulator that is causing problems? Apparently my car is drawing current from the battery continually whenever it is running, but not in large amounts (the battery lasted 5 days before giving out, whilst I searched for bad connections). Anything I can do to find the problem? Thanks all! -Kurt '71 AT Square, Tyria __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
