Use the cheapest gas that doesn't make it ping or knock. Ping or knock is often likened to the sound of slowly dropping a handful of ball bearings into a steel trash can. It happens on low rpm, wide open throttle conditions. If you hear this sound, let up on the throttle and use better gas next time. There is NO advantage to using a higher octane gas than that which your engine needs to prevent knock. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
