Your oil cooler seals are leaking. Either someone put the wrong seals in there, or the oil cooler bolts have loosened up, or the seals are just old and hard and aren't sealing anymore. Regardless of the exact cause you will need to pull the generator, distributor, and left side injector runners (or left carb) and then remove the upper tin on that side so you can pull the oil cooler to see exactly what the problem is. This is a fairly long job, but it's straightforward. It's doubly important that you fix this, and fix it correctly. Installing the wrong seal in there can cause the passage to be blocked which would deprive your engine of lubrication. I'm sending you my oil cooler seal FAQ. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
