Greg, thank you for putting it into the proper perspective, as one who lives
in the salt belt / rust belt, I too have seen my share of very rusty cars. Its
very common to see the lower 6 inches gone off of any car that was made in
the 70's (getting fewer and fewer of them though) or even the 80's and early
90's around here. The thing most people don't understand is that these cars would
otherwise return to earth slowly rusting in peace, instead of being
rejuvenated into something the owner will actually drive. My son's Roadster project is
a good example of this, sure it could have fixed a few other cars, but we
chose to rebuild it into something that he could drive. I have another project
waiting to have something done to it too, but if I didn't do something with it,
then it would have stayed as a storage shed ( but not anymore since the city
got after the PO) or it would have gone to the crusher (where it was headed
before I got it), and I think it being cut up is a far better place then the
crusher myself.

No, I don't go looking for cars "just to cut up", but I'm not going to let
that stop me either. I plan to put alot of love into something and then drive
it (ask my wife). I've had my share of very rusty cars, and I know how much
work goes into restoring one, but with a custom car you don't have the same
limitations to work around. I personally like this freedom, as it makes working on
the car that much more satisfying and fun.
