[T3] ungrounded suspicion

a real head-scratcher this morning.
my car is absolutely dead.  no spark, no life, no juice flowing - nothing 
from the key, nothing from the fusebox.  will not bump-start, no 
instruments, no lights, no nothing.  it happened all of a sudden, while 
driving normally -  conked out without a second's warning, as if someone had 
reached in & stolen the battery as I cruised down the street.   all wires I 
trace seem to test fine - the battery's good & strong, the VR's  OK, nothing 
in the ignition, column, or dashboard area is burnt, disconnected, or 
otherwise compromised.  everything around the starter appears normal.  
everything around the generator appears normal.

But there's obviously something open somewhere.   I'm assuming something 
fairly close (electrically, though not necessarily auto-geographically) to 
the battery must have come ungrounded.  But what circuit, I wonder, would 
have the capability to kill everything?

Any hint, any glimmer of hope, would be most welcome - it is absolutely 
imperative that I figure this out by Monday morning.
