Well we got the 69 squareback home with no problems last week.. and here is what i found.. The car has 82000 original miles, the car is a 69 that is carb'd [and whoever did the swap did a great job -They left no wires anywhere to be found], very little rust , some surface rust nothing bad or cancerous at all. The Po had swapped out the rear hatch and fenders from a 67 square along with the seats and mirrors also. The PO also stated that it ran when it was parked...he said he would start it once a couple of months also, until one day it stopped running then he left it alone. I took a quick look at the motor and realized it had no coil ! (peter you don't have anything to do with that do you?)..I added a coil, adjusted the carb linkage, replaced the missing QP with a stinger , and installed a battery-Oh did i tell you the pan is perfect it only has a few small holes under the battery(pin holes),drained out the old bad gas added new gas and filters and gave her a spin! It took a bit of coaxing but she started right up...I have driven it around town a bit and i must say the auto isn't as bad as i thought it would be. The motor will still need more tuning and an oil change..but not bad.
