The first thing to do is to verify that you still have SOME free play in the clutch pedal motion. If you don't you should adjust the clutch cable to give you some. This may give you a year or so more use of this clutch, assuming that it hasn't been slipping so much that you've burned it up. > I have pulled an engine on a '65 bus and a '71 bus. so I have some > experience...but the T3 setup w/fuel injection looks quite different. > > Referring to the Bentley manual-there is some reference to 'mount spacers'. > It appears as thoug these are on all double jointed axles-which mine is. > Bentley says to always use new plastic spacers. Is this correct? Can you > still get these? Hmmm..., my mind must be going. I can't think what this might be referring to. You just need to make sure that you disconnect everything before you start to drop the engine: throttle cable, heater cables (2) and hoses (as many as 4) gas lines (2) FI, oil pressure, generator & ignition wires, air bellows (2). And then, on IRS cars, you MUST support the rear of the transmission before you let the engine down. -- Jim Adney jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, WI 53711-3054 USA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
