Well Jim's got the bees buzzing in my bonnet about my carb linkage ;-) Now I believe it to be the major source of all my problems and I won't rest until it is absolutely play-free! I have now spent 2 evenings searching and searching... for replacements for the ball joints. I have found 2 options so far but neither is ideal. The first is a very nice looking ball joint from THK- aluminium body, 4mm internal thread (L&R), 4mm stud on ball, neoprene gaitor. Sounds perfect- right size, light weight, precise and long life BUT costs 13 GBP each !?! and would involve removing the original balls as it has an 8mm ball rather than our 6. I really don't want to spend 100 pounds to fix this! Call me cheap ;-) The second is a "rod end" (heim/rose joint) from Huco (UK) that is also 4mm internal thread with 4mm hole through the ball. I don't know the price yet, but I think this will be more work as I would have to make the studs to fit them, and they would be a pain to remove when needed (quite often). CBperformance sell Heim joints for Dellortos etc for 5 dollars each which is a more attractive price but they are too big and they're not metric. So I'm begging now, if anyone knows about a supplier of something suitable, please let me know. Ideally I'd like an exact replacement- 4mm thread and 6mm ball, so I don't need to remove the balls that are already there. They may need to be replaced anyway, so I guess thats not so important.
