the way to most precisely balance your carbs is not by air flow, > but by manifold pressure ( or vacuum) That sounds a bit like my system, except mine works from the slightly lower pressure above each carb, which just needs a small tube (tyre valve cap to cover it in use) fitted into the air-cleaner top over each carb. A clear plastic tube to make a paraffin manometer that hangs down in the space behind the engine (rear is rear) completes the device - cost is no more than £1 ($1, 1Euro, 1Peso etc !). It leaves the air cleaner in place and allows checking the balance at higher engine speeds simultaneously. If you're worried about the damage to the air-cleaner, use a rusty spare one! It works well for me - the previous owner had set it up and explained how to use the modification. Dave.
