Re: [T3] model kits of the notchy kind?

The Minichamp 1/18 th scale is around 72 euros here. It is very nice
actually, and it's an early (68-) model despite what they say.

Minichamp also has the full type 3 range at the 1/43th scale (notch,
square, fastback and .... t34...).
David : these are the ones you are speaking about , I guess. They were
around 40 euros each last year. The 1/43 th models are early cars too.

Otherwise the brand "Vitesse" used to make a VW1500 (notchback), that went
out of production a couple years ago. You can still find it new at some
dealers (well at least in Europe as they were made in Portugal) for ~25
euros. It was available with a plain roof and with an open ragtop, various
colors. Not the same quality as the Minichamps' but nice.
I have a red one that had seen the dark side before I got it (dropped a
couple inches in the front and a flame type painting on the sides!). If
someone has a spare set of 1/48th Porsche wheels, let me know, :-).

The "Beetle shop in Paris" (a store specialized in Beetles and other air
cooled vw's model cars!) http://www.beetle-shop.fr also had a special run of
the Vitesse VW1500 with custom wheels, and other goodies. Not the
same as mine and not available new anymore.

Going to the "vintage" scene:

Tekno (from Denmark) made a VW 1500 sedan in the sixties, available at
least in beige and in red. This one goes for more than 100 euros in good
shape. This is a "must have"; quality, in my opinion, is better than the
famous "Dinky Toys". By the way there's no type 3's from Dinky Toy (only a
t14).

Norev (a French model car maker) had 1500 vw's from 1962 to 1966 and a "1600
TL coach" (fastback) in 1967 in their 1/43th plastic series. They are quite
expensive in good shape now in France because the plastic doesn't hold very
well, plus there is a special interest for "Norev" here.
In the "jet car" series, die-cast this time, Norev came back with the
notchback and fastback in 1971, same mold as the plastic ones.

And, in fine at the 1/43th, there was a notchback from Matchbox (I'm not
sure it was Matchbox actually, if anyone knows?), with a suitcase in the
trunk (trunk that you could open of course). Very rare and expensive if you
could find one with the suitcase! In fair shape, with the trunk empty it's
already more than 100 euros!

I forgot a type 34, made in the 60's-70's. I don't know the brand , maybe
Tekno or Corgi? It's a rarity, I've only seen it once at a swapmeet.

At the 1/87th scale (the HO scale for trains) there is quite a lot of type
3's, mainly from the German model car maker Brekina, but look for Bush,
Shuco, Wiking too.

I have never seen or heard of any plastic kit figuring type 3's.

The Beetle shop in Paris web site used to show other models at various
scale, but I can't get to it at the time, so that's pretty much all I know,
any
information is welcome of course!
