The Mass inspection that my notch went through was laughable. It consisted of the guy walking around it and then he checked the lights, horn and wipers. He also checked the seal for the gas tank, when he finally asked where it was ( he walked around the car a couple of times first,) then gave me the pass. Never even drove it let alone checked the brakes or ball joints. It was almost scary, because what else on the road had this place passed, and were they driving behind me!?!? In Pennsylvania all cars with "normal " registration and plates are required to have an annual safety inspection and cars newer than 25 years old require an emissions inspection also. The safety inspection checks for burnt out bulbs, rust, exhaust leaks, worn brake and suspension parts, etc. Cars with antique or classic plates don't require inspection, but there are restrictions for getting your car registered and on when and how much you drive it.
