Dear Listees: As most of us know, there are no kits -- the only option is to custom install an alternator. It's not a real easy job, but there are several sources of information on conversions. Toby Erkson of this list has conversion info on his WEB site. Although he installed an RX-7 alternator, I chose to install a modified Type I, Bosch 55 amp alternator. Several of you believe this is not the best option, but in my view and from an appearance standpoint -- there is no comparison! After modifying the alternator flange, very little contour change of the sheet metal is required. I completed my conversion in a "test" format for several months before giving the engine and transmission a face lift. I completed all the work on the conversion/installation that myself. I also have a picture site with more pix of the conversion/face lift. I now have several thousand miles on this conversion with superb performance.....and NO problems at all!
