Just this morning I was out verifying the timing on my car, and one of the checks I always do is clip the inductance pick-up around each plug wire and make sure each cylinder is timed OK. Both #1 and #3 fire at TDC, at the same point. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed a difference of 3 degrees.
