Re: [T3] Fuel pump for EberspŠcher gas heater

<x-flowed>It is not the 73's heater, this one. This heater is a B2 unit, which uses the regular pump. But I will have to go through the same with my 73's heater as well, but at least I have an almost new pump for that one!

Uh Oh... Per isnt using the correct 73 pump!

This sounds like it must be the earlier pump, the 73 pump was a simple
plunger driven off contact points in the fan motor assy... keeping the
sparking well away from the gas.

Subject: [T3] Fuel pump for Ebersp?cher gas heater

Volks,

I have a question about an electrical fuel pump for an Ebersp?cher gas
heater. I'm not at all experienced with electrical fuel pumps, so I have
to ask you.

I had a spare pump here that I had a look at, to see if I could get it
running again. I cleaned up the membrane area (lots of white "chalk"
there), took the membrane and rod out. Is there anything I should
lubricate this rod with upon assembly? There is what loks to be a hole
in the side of the pump body for oil.

After that I removed the rear cover (red plastic) to inspect the
electrical contacts. When I hooked up power, it didnt move, until I
helped it a bit. What worries me a bit is that there is a nice, blue
spark on the electrical contact as the pump runs. Since this pump is for
transporting gasoline, this spark worries me a bit. Should I be worried,
or is this perfectly normal?

And last but not least, should I expect this pump to suck the fuel up
from the tank when I install it, or should the dry lines be primed with
fuel first?

TIA,

PerL
