Swim? You're joking, right? We get our water from Alaska and the change in temperature from there to here feels like it doesn't even change...BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I think 9 out of 10 Oregon beaches are swimmable (at your own risk). There are quite a few camping spots along the coast. Most require a park permit if you plan on camping -- they're not expensive and there will be signs indicating if you need a permit or not. Personally, I think the central Oregon coast is the is the most beautiful (Newport/Waldport/Yachats). The northern part, especially Seaside, is way too commercial-touristy. For a decent selection of air-cooled dubs, particularly T3 junkers, check out Averre's in Longview, Washington: http://www.averres.com/ Toby Erkson -- air_cooled_nut@pobox.com '72 VW Squareback, '95 VW Jetta, '81 Gold Wing http://www.icbm.org/ Portland, Oregon ----- Original Message ----- > I am more of a lurker than anything, but your advise is well received here. > I am in Calgary and My Wife and I want to drive my 69 Fastback Auto FI to > the Oregon Coast and do some camping in August. I have looked at a trip down through Spokane/ Bend/ Coos Bay/ > Lincoln/ Seaside/ and back through Yakima.
