It won't answer this question exactly, but it will give you all the info you 
need to know to figure it out yourself. One thing IS true, the spring tension 
in these parts is high, so it is important to use care when doing this.

This manual is THE one to buy:

Volkswagen Official Service Manual

(excellent book, complete and well written)

This one is also good, and covers carbs and 6V cars.
