It would be hard to tell whether the heads came from GEX this way or not, but you should at least be alert to the possibility that it was caused by a problem on that side of the engine making it run lean and hot. > Also, one of the nuts for the main bearing saddles had > backed off and fallen off, and I'm assuming that the stud is pulling from > the case. The times I've seen this the stud was still solid in there, but the case had warped, allowing the bearing support web to back away, leaving that bearing loose. This was on a # 2 bearing; not sure what effect this would have on # 3, but pretty sure that it would destroy the case on #1. Still, it probably means that there was a problem either with the assembly or the parts, but still hard to say. I ran my engine (came this way with the used car) for a couple of thousand miles after retightening this nut and eventually rebuilt the engine. The bearings were trashed, but the case was reusable. > ..have I mentioned that I hate GEX engines? Uhhh..., yeah. I think we got that message. ;-) I encourage everyone here to do their OWN work. You'll learn something, and you'll either get the result you expected or you'll understand what you did wrong. The only problem is that it may take you an engine or 2 to get all the bugs out. Remember: No one cares as much about your car as you do.
