how does FI respond to engine modifications?  is it adaptable?

My goal is to have my car go 0-60 in about 8 seconds.  I have not driven my
car yet but this figure seems lower than stock.
What should I do to get there?  My car has a fresh rebuild on the engine,
but induction parts.
