Hello all, I'm contemplating converting the fuel system in my '73 Fasty to dual carbs, as I have found someone who has the entire type III dual carb setup (dual-port mainfolds, air intake mainfold, linkage, Brazilian carbs, and fuel pump). Obviously the carbs would need to be rebuilt to get them as close to new as possible (and to eliminate any variables possible). Assuming I'm able to find the correct model distributor for this conversion (think its the part number that ends in "205 g"), what are your thoughts on this idea? I'd opt for a new set of Webers (perhaps the 34's?) but I live in an area where it gets rather cold during the winter, and believe I'd need something with electric chokes). Speaking of electric chokes, is there a wire coming to/from the FI wiring harness that I could use to power the chokes? Many thanks in advance for all of your advice. Just FYI, all of your brake system advice was super-helpful, and the brakes on my car are now top-notch...thanks again! -Doug :-) '73 Fasty ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
