Check and see if you can verify that they hooked the thermostat linkage correctly after this work was done. If they didn't, the flaps may just be staying closed, which would cause severe overheating. You can feel the flaps if you remove the generator and feel in thru the hole under it. If they left the flaps closed, I'd say they owe you a new set of pistons/cylinders, maybe heads, too. Check to verify that the pressure sensor hose is connected on both ends. See if they put in the right kind of head that has the boss you need for the FI head temp sensor (left side, near #4 SP.) > i did some reading and i think it may be the coil... > could a bad coil be my problem? Possibly, but what does it feel like? Does the engine just start running weaker and weaker (not a coil problem) or does it run okay, then miss a couple of times (could be an ignition problem, possibly a coil problem.) What kind of coil do you have? The original Bosch coils usually last forever. -- ******************************* Jim Adney, jadney@vwtype3.org Madison, Wisconsin, USA ******************************* ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ List info at http://www.vwtype3.org/list | mailto:gregm@vwtype3.org
